Author’s Note: A while back, my gal pal Barbara and I RPed a scenario where Bruce Wayne and Diana/Wonder Woman were married and had two daughters that were identical twins. Their names were Jeniva and Athena. Now, while I have a much larger plan in mind for the girls for a story I’m going to write, this is something Barbara wanted me to write. (She ignored my blatant “We should role play it”, therefore, I can go to whatever extreme I want with it.)
Jeniva and Athena, although identical twins, are extremely opposite at this point. Well, they remain so throughout their lives (though Jeniva’s is far less long than her sister’s), it’s just at this point, all that needs to be known is that Jeniva is the bad girl and Athena is the good girl.
And, by the way, Barbara informed me it’s not “Gen-ee-vah” but “Jhah-nee-vah”, pronouncing it like the FRENCH would.
Legalities: The original basis of Bruce Wayne and Diana/Wonder Woman are property to their respective owners and creators and holders, while what we’ve done with them and their daughters are our ideas (Barb’s and myself’s).
Rating: PG-15 (at the least)
Continuum: Cartoonish-comicish-RP combination
Summary: An establishment of Jeniva and Athena’s relationship, in short.
Dedicated to: Barbara, who I’m not talking to tonight for many reasons, and this particular scene was her idea, so… so… yeah!
A Night in Hand
By: Carmen (Kara) Wayne
“Oh, gross!!”
With a swing of her foot, Jeniva Wayne kicked a flaming steak across a plot of grass in the pool of her friend’s, Vince. She laughed and hopped a bit before turned to Vince, a large Italian teenager. He wore a Hawaiian shirt and a toilet seat around his neck.
“Why did you do that?!” she called over the music that boomed through the yard, and the crowd that was there.
“Your dad does bats?! What?!” he yelled back, grinning because he knew exactly what she said.
Jeniva grinned and jumped at him, beginning to roughhouse with him.
Meanwhile, across the almost-drunken hordes, was Athena Wayne, on a second story balcony. She watched the mass of teenagers in good humor, elbows rested against the rod iron railing. A circle had grown around Vince and Jeniva as they continued to battle good-naturedly. Part of her envied her sister for the popularity she held. But another part of her was happy that one of them had so much ease in high school.
Unfortunately, Athena wasn’t so lucky. She was far quieter than Jeniva. And while she was the better student, she had to study for hours each night to be so, while Jeniva never studied, and never did homework (unless she was made to by their parents, which was common place), and still averaged out with A’s. Athena wasn’t much of an athlete, while her sister had her stints with the cheerleading team, softball team, swimming team, and many other teams and had plenty of awards and trophies to show for it. Jeniva was popular, while hardly anyone even acknowledged Athena. Many were always amazed to see that Jeniva had a sister—and a twin no less.
Athena was shy and always trying to appease adults. She was often a teacher’s aid, and teacher’s pet. Jeniva, though also a favorite to some teachers, had a vague record. Disobedient to her parents, she believed in late nights and early mornings. Her ability to work on such lack of sleep came from her father’s side. The only time she would have a late morning, and her parents knew this well, was when she had a drink too many in the alcoholic department, despite her being only sixteen. Jeniva was grounded 95% of the time. Tonight, at the party, was part of the rare 5 percentile.
“Hey…” a masculine voice said from behind Athena.
Athena turned and smiled faintly at the attractive Austin Barth. He was the quarterback of the football team, and basically as popular as Jeniva (even though on the school hierarchy, student opinion would sway moreso in Jeniva’s direction than his). He was a blonde haired, blue eyed “pretty boy”, standing about six feet tall and nearly a hundred and ninety pounds.
“Hi,” Athena said with a small smile.
Austin grinned a bit and walked next to her, leaning with his elbows on the railing in a similar way as hers.
“You’re Athena Wayne, right?” he asked, giving her a handsome smile.
“Uhm… yeah,” she said with a weak laugh.
Austin chuckled at that, watching her.
“Had to think about it, eh?” He watched Athena giggle in response, and nudged her playfully. “Stop hiding up here, girlie. Why don’t you come down with me?”
“I… uhm… I’d rather stay up here,” Athena said soberly. She was certain this would blow her chances with being able to hang with him, so she looked back down to the crowd of their peers and softly replied, “Sorry…”
“Hey, don’t be sorry,” he said with a smile. He gently nudged her again. “Tell you what… Come on down with me… Hang out a bit, and then we can come back up here?”
Athena looked at him a moment, and then smiled faintly.
“Alright,” she said, “I think I’d like to do that… only for a little while.”
Jeniva was dusting herself off with the help of her boy-of-the-week, Noel Waller, captain of the basketball team when she caught sight of Austin and Athena on the balcony.
“Barth’s here?” she asked, looking at Noel.
The brown haired male looked up where she had previously been gazing.
“Looks like he is. And it looks like he’s wanting your sister to put out.” He tugged on Jeniva so she’d walk backwards and lean on his chest, and then wrapped his arms around her waist. “Not that she WILL or anything…”
Jeniva watched as they disappeared inside the room, her mind on that entirely, her worry creeping up.
“You’re right, she wouldn’t put out… might make Barth do something stupid…”
Noel frowned at that comment, watching the empty balcony as well.
“You don’t think he’d honestly try that, do you?”
“You remember what he tried to do to Lindsay. And Athena doesn’t have my strength or anything that would help her against him.”
“Are you afraid she’ll get carried away like she almost did a few years ago with Travis?”
“Not at all. She learned with that… I wouldn’t be so worried if that were the case.”
Athena and Austin were seen coming downstairs inside the game room. Jeniva gently pushed from him and started for the house, practically wading her way through the people on the patio. Noel wasn’t far behind, sharing the concern she did.
Austin Barth led Athena to a table containing the refreshments for the party.
“Vince is a career party holder, that’s for sure,” Austin said with a grin. “Him and his parents just enjoy throwing huge bashes like this.”
“Really now?” Athena asked, hands clasped in front of her.
She was attempting to hide how much she wanted to shy away from the situation, but was failing miserably. Austin turned and set a hand on her shoulder, smiling as dashingly as he always did.
“Hey, now. Calm down. I don’t bite…”
“*I* beg to differ with that,” came a third party voice. Both turned to see Jeniva standing there, arms crossed, Noel behind her. “Get your hand off my sister,” she demanded.
“Jen!” Athena chided quietly, surprised and slightly upset by her behavior.
“Aw, lookit…” Austin turned to the two completely, his smile turning to a dark one. “It’s Jeniva Wayne and her lap puppy Noel ‘I take it up the ass’ Waller.” He gestured to Athena. “We’re JUST talking, Jen-Jen-Jen. People DO that at parties. Unlike people like you who feels like a party just isn’t a party until something gets broken.”
“That’s how it seems to be with you hitting on my sister right now,” Jeniva retaliated.
“We just MET, Jeniva,” Austin said, amused. “Get a grip.”
Athena hurried forward and took hold of her sister. She passed Austin an apologizing look before pulling Jeniva off to a corner of the room. Hurt, she looked at her twin.
“Jeniva, what are you doing?!” she whispered.
“Athie, you don’t want to hang out with Barth, seriously,” she said, hushed. “He’s no good!”
“What do you mean he’s no good?” Athena whispered back. “He’s good at school, popular… he’s attractive—“
“Athena, I’m telling you,” Jeniva said slowly, placing her hands on Athena’s shoulders, “he’ll hurt you—“
Athena pulled her hands from her shoulders and held them tightly, speaking just as slow.
“I’m old enough to judge that for myself, Jen. Please… He’s the first guy to notice me… it seems like in ever… you’re so popular, can’t you just let me have a moment or two in the kind of light you are always in? Besides… you’re the last person to be talking to me about bad judgments.”
She let go of her sister’s hands and then headed back to Austin, smiling as cute as always. He smiled back and let his hand slide around her waist to her back as she came close enough and led her away.
“All better now?” he asked.
“Yeah. Want to get something to drink and then head back upstairs?”
“Sounds great to me…”
About three minutes later, Vince was rounding the corner of his house, still wearing the toilet seat around his neck, when he saw Jeniva using one of his baseball bats to beat a metal trashcan flat. He hurried over and pulled her away by her belt.
“Whoa now, save the trashcans!” he quipped.
“I’m imagining that’s Austin Barth’s head—now let me go, Vince!”
“Aheh. Uhm. No.” He snatched the baseball bat away from her quickly. “You getting angry with a blunt object isn’t good at all.” He pulled her over to a couple of spare chairs and made her sit down, sitting beside her. “Now why did Barth piss you off THIS time?”
“He’s upstairs right now, with my SISTER…”
“Ewwww… Doesn’t she know about what he tried with Lindsay?”
“Apparently not! And she won’t listen to me long enough to find out. I just hope to Gaia that he doesn’t try anything with Athie. I will have to kill him if he does.”
“Literally?”
“No… well… I’ll kill a PART of him.”
“Oh… ow…”
“This punch is pretty good,” Athena commented after finishing her last bit.
Austin nodded in agreement as they sat together on the bed of Vince’s parents. The upstairs was relatively off limits, except for those who Vince passively allowed. Not that it was a problem, downstairs and the basement was where all the fun was at.
“Totally…” He downed the rest of his and smirked. “At least they didn’t spike it,” he said with a grin. “Though maybe someone should.”
Athena giggled and nudged him playfully.
“Oh, stop. Let them get drunk by choice,” she said.
Austin smiled and watched her a moment. Athena looked to see him watching her and then blushed and looked away, covering her face. The jock laughed at that.
“What’s wrong?”
“Stop looking at me!” she giggled out, not uncovering her face.
Austin gently reached up and removed her hands and made her look to him. Athena was surprised to see he was looking rather serious now.
“You’re too beautiful, why would I not want to look at you?” he asked.
“I… I’m… so not,” she said.
“Yes, you are…” He gently put a hand to her cheek, watching into her eyes. “Makes me want to kiss you…”
Athena blushed madly at all of this. It felt almost to her like he was moving too fast, and yet the pace intrigued her enough not to pull away from him.
“I’ve never… even had my first REAL kiss…” she said quietly, embarrassed. “I mean, I’ve kissed, but… there… wasn’t anything there…”
“That’s okay… I’ll show you how it’s done,” he said, smiling ever so faintly, before leaning in and catching her lips with his.
“What bothers me the most,” Jeniva said, “isn’t Austin’s track record. It’s Athena’s lack OF one.” She was now laying on her back on the ground, her legs up on Vince’s lap. “She hasn’t even had a boyfriend. She’s been WANTING one, and Austin is a guy she’s been crushing over forever.”
“So, maybe he’ll respect her?” Vince asked.
“Doubtful. She’s a virgin… He’ll wanna bang her and then leave her and brag to all his buddies about it,” she said. “And if she doesn’t give to that charm, he’ll try to do to her what he did to Lindsay.”
“I feel BAD for Linds,” Vince said. “That scream she let out at Blade’s party was…”
“I’m glad you and Noel were there. I don’t think anyone else would have even paid attention to the scream.”
“…I think you’re right.”
Athena let out a moan into the kiss she held with Austin as he now laid on her on the bed. His hands had slid under her skirt and were rested on her hips while he made sure he was laid just so between her legs. Slowly, he broke away from her mouth and let his own mouth trail down her jaw line and to her neck. Athena let out another moan when he playfully bucked his hips against her.
“Austin, oh gods—“ she whimpered, incoherent from everything.
Austin bit onto her neck lightly and began to suck on the skin while he adjusted his fingers to wrap around her underwear waist band and began to pull the underwear down. Athena quickly grabbed his hands through the fabric of her skirt and shook her head.
“No, no, not now,” she panted weakly.
“Come on, Athena,” Austin said, sliding down further. “You—“
“Please, Austin…” she said, gripping his hands tighter. “Not now… We’ve done enough…”
Austin slowly replaced her underwear and pushed away from her, sitting up. He adjusted his blonde hair and nodded, breathing.
“So—Sorry,” he said.
Athena sat up and inhaled deeply as she nodded as well.
“It’s okay… just… thank you for stopping.”
She leaned over and kissed his cheek. He smiled a bit at that, looking to her.
“How about I get us some more punch?” he asked.
“I’d like that,” she said, smiling.
He kissed her lightly and stood up. With a brief, “Be right back” he exited the room. Once he shut the door, he reached into his pocket and produced a little white pill in the palm of his hand. His friendly smile turned slightly wicked as he headed down to get the glasses of punch.
Athena, meanwhile, walked from the bed to the balcony she had spent so much time on before meeting up with Austin. Down below and off a bit, she could see her sister and Vince lazily laying on their backs, staring at the night sky. Athena inhaled sharply at that, still slightly angry at her sister. She could handle anything Austin Barth could throw at her, she was sure. And with that internal conflict being pushed from her mind to make room for better things, she closed the balcony doors for more privacy.
Austin walked back into the room, two glasses in hand. He smiled and handed her one before sipping his.
“Took me less time than I thought,” he said.
Athena smiled and took a long drink of her own glass, and then made a weird face.
“Something tastes different…”
“Is it wrong to be worried?” Jeniva asked, her head now resting on Vince’s tummy and her feet on the Indian-styled lap of Noel. “Is it wrong to be concerned and protective when it comes to my twin sister?”
“Not really,” Vince said. “But you need to realize she’s just as old as you are…”
“Uhm, hello?” Jeniva said like it was old news, “I was born first!”
“What are you TALKING about?” Noel asked. “You got cut out of Mrs. Wayne, and then, like, two seconds later Athena got pulled out, I thought!”
“I’m older, see?” Jeniva said, satisfied. “Nyah.”
Vince and Noel had to laugh at that.
“You’re such a nerd!”
“Slag off. See, what I’m worried about though is… I’m more than sure Athena can resist Barth’s advances… But… Barth… There’s just something awfully dangerous about him…”
“Maybe you should go on up and pull your sister away and… I can drive you both home, you know,” Noel said.
Jeniva placed her foot against his cheek casually and sighed.
“Nah… If she’s not down when I’m ready to go, though, THEN I’m going up there and dragging her ass off…”
Vince grinned and patted her head.
“Fifteen minutes?”
“Hell no! … … twenty…”
A long yawn came first before Athena sat on the bed, and then dropped onto her back. As she stared at the ceiling, she found that her vision starting to blur faintly, and her inhibitions were slowly starting to diminish. Austin sat by her and watched, smiling faintly.
“You feeling okay?” he asked.
“You—sound… like… under—water…” she whispered, watching his fair colored form starting to turn black.
“Heh, yeah, I suppose I would sound that way, hmm?” he asked. He placed a hand on her leg and slid it up slowly, under her skirt. “Can you feel that, dear, dear Athena?”
Athena’s eyes involuntarily shut on her, her body beginning to relax.
“…what…?” she asked.
Austin’s smile grew wider.
“Never mind. You SLEEP now…”
**
Twenty minutes late, Jeniva hopped up the stairs with Vince beside her, swinging the keys to all the rooms as he walked in a beat to the music downstairs. Jeniva opened a door to his sister’s room and saw her typing diligently on homework.
“Sasha?” she asked. “Did you see my sister Athena and Austin Barth come up here?”
“No, but I saw Austin Barth heading down from our parents’ room,” Sasha replied, never looking up. “Athie was with him? No wonder she didn’t answer when I called for help on our labs…”
Jeniva sighed and shut the door. And that’s when the panic hit.
“Where’s your parents’ bedroom?!” she asked, freaking out entirely.
“Last door down the hall,” Vince said, confused.
Jeniva sprinted that way, wasting no time by kicking in the super speed given to her so duly by her mother’s genes. When she got to the end of the hallway, to the appropriate door, she pushed through to find Athena sprawled on the bed still, unconscious, her clothes disheveled. She covered her mouth in pure shock and launched over to her, tapping her face.
“Athie?! Athena!” she yelled.
No response came, Athena was sleeping too deep to be woken up. Vince came in soon after, worried a bit.
“Jen? What happened?”
“She—She’s—Barth—he—he hurt…”
She trailed off when she saw a pair of green underwear on the floor. They were female’s, lacy and deep green. Immediately they were recognized as Athena’s, because one year Stephanie Drake, their surrogate sister-in-law, had drug them to a Victoria’s Secret store for their birthday. When Bruce, their father, saw the sorts of articles she bought for them, he threw a fit. Including over the pair of emerald undies Jeniva held in her hand.
Without saying a word, she scooped up her sister and hurried away, leaving the clueless Vince, and his toilet seat necklace, in the dust.
**
A small groan escaped the lips of the meeker of the Wayne twins as she began to come to. She found herself in her bed, in her pajamas, with her sister sitting on the bed beside her.
“Jeniva…?” she asked hoarsely.
“Hey, little sister,” Jeniva replied, smiling. “How are you feeling?”
Athena arched back as she stretched out and then shrugged.
“Confused. How did I get here?”
“I… uhm…” Jeniva coughed, not quite sure how to tell her. “I found you in the Bernelli’s bedroom, asleep…”
“Oh yeah…? Hmm… I see… Okay, thanks for bringing me home, sis…”
She rolled over to lay on her side, Jeniva still watching her.
“Athena? Do you remember anything that happened after you went to sleep? Or right before, even?”
“Mmm… after… no… before? Austin’s voice… where was Austin anyway?”
Jeniva rubbed Athena’s arm, her eyes hollowing out as she thought to herself.
“…he decided he was going to have fun elsewhere and with someone else,” she said falsely, “I’m sorry, Athena…”
“…It’s okay, he was self-absorbed anyway,” Athena replied.
Jeniva nodded and stood up to her feet. She leaned over and kissed Athena’s temple.
“Go to sleep, Athie. I’ll talk to you tomorrow morning…”
“M’kay…”
Jeniva walked away from the bed and out of the room, turning down the hall and heading for the stairs down to the lobby, on a mission. Meanwhile, her sister laid in her bed, wide-awake, staring at the wall across from her. A normally truthful girl had lied to her sister. In fact, she knew exactly what happened.
**
Austin Barth, later that night, was happily pacing down a Gotham alley, heading to the alley entrance of an underground club. He wasn’t nearly done partying yet. And he was in a very, very good mood. As he passed a dumpster, something scuffled around behind him. He turned to see what it was, but saw nothing but a cat scamper by. Austin shook his head and continued on his way…
That’s when hurried footsteps rushed behind him, and before he could turn around, a blindly and paralyzing pain rushed through his back, and he was down on the ground in a second. Gasping in pain, Austin managed to roll over and saw standing above him Jeniva Wayne, a police nightstick in hand.
“What--?!” he exclaimed.
“I warned you not to touch my sister. And then you did so without her permission.” She grinned darkly, beginning to twirl the nightstick slowly around her. “You know, I have a lot of friends in high places… But I have one in particular that *HATES* rape. That friend has given me the okay to beat the shit out of you.”
“You can’t do this!” Austin yelled, pissed at this point, for a lack of better words.
“Oh, but I can. And you can scream all you want. NO rescue workers will come to help.”
“You bitch—“
“Ah-ah, be careful. No one knows what you did but me and you… And if you touch my sister or another girl ever again… no one will know again. And no one will know about what I’ve done to you… because I will kill you after a long torture… and I will burn your body.”
Austin laughed weakly.
“You don’t have the balls, psycho-bitch…”
Jeniva smirked darkly, something vaguely reminiscent to a smile her father, many years previous, would have given to a criminal he was fighting to scare the hell out of him.
“I don’t, do I? Well, let me show you what balls I DO have…”
And with that, she rose the nightstick offensively and swung it down on the jock, not having any qualms about holding back…
**
Austin’s eyes fluttered open, and he found himself laying in the bed of a hospital room. An oxygen mask was over his nose and mouth, he had one leg and one arm cast to heal broken bones appropriately, he couldn’t see out of an eye, and the machines he was attached to were numerous. Sitting across from him was an older woman, at least in her fifties, watching him.
“Who… are you…?” he asked weakly.
“You’ve been a bad boy,” the woman said. “Taking advantage of little girls’ weaknesses… drugging them… raping them… I bet Athena Wayne wasn’t the first.”
Her voice was steady, almost monotone, and her glare was sharp. Sharp enough to make Austin look away.
“I didn’t RAPE her,” he said. “She wanted it just as much.”
He looked at her momentarily to grin faintly. The woman rose to her feet and paced to the foot of his bed. Never did she break her glaring, never did she blink.
“You slipped her a date rape drug. And while she was unconscious, you had sex with her,” she said, disgust pouring through her words. “I don’t like assholes like you. I never have. I never will. It’s so unfortunate how many young ladies close to me have had to suffer the agonies of the mental anguish that jackoffs like you put them through. Fortunately for you, she doesn’t remember a thing. And she won’t submit to testing since she has no suspicions. Unfortunately for you, I know, and Jeniva Wayne knows. And what Jeniva did to you is nothing compared to what I can and will do if you ever lay your hands on a girl again like that. And pray to God her parents never find out. PRAY. Because what Jeniva and I can do… I think you can imagine what THEY will do.”
“Jeniva, that little bitch, she DID this to me—“
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” the woman interrupted. “The police found you in your car, which was wrapped around a tree in Robinson Park. Aw. Poor you.”
She turned and headed out the door calmly, hands in her trench coat like nothing at all happened between the two of them. Austin, meanwhile, laid there with a confused and yet distasted look on his face.
Meanwhile, the woman walked to a man who stood, awaiting her arrival.
“He wake up, Barb?” he asked.
Commissioner Barbara Gordon nodded slowly.
“We can’t do anything but ride his ass and remind him we’re watching him,” she said. “There’re ways to get the evidence we would need, but without Athena giving some sort of confirmation… even a ‘I felt SO dirty when I woke up’, then we can’t do anything about it, Sam.”
District Attorney Sam Young nodded in agreement.
“Evidence compliments testimony. Testimony needs evidence to be valid… But didn’t you say Athena Wayne was a virgin?”
“As far as I know. But she might think bleeding is just her period. I would have.”
“Oh…” Sam Young said with a nod of his head.
“I’ll tell you this much,” Barbara said, looking towards Austin’s room, “if Athie remembers, or he does this again, or does ANYTHING to piss me off, I’m nailing his feathery ass to the WALL.”

“ATHENA!!!!”
“Coming, daddy!!”
Athena adjusted herself and used a towel to wipe off the charcoal on her hands as she sat on the floor of her bedroom. Before her in a drawing book was a detailed drawing of a man and a woman having sex on a grave. A rather disturbing piece from a psychological view, and extremely well done from an artist’s point of view, Athena made sure no one would be able to know about it by shutting the book and hiding it in the mattress of her bed. She had been drawing for years, but she always made sure no one knew, not even her sister. Her drawings, two weeks after the party, had taken a particularly steep turn towards the graphically erotic and gothic. Something she did NOT want anyone to see.
She adjusted her sweater and headed out of her bedroom and down the grand hall. A turn and a walk down the main stairs, she turned and headed into the entertainment room, where her father waited for her patiently, a South Park DVD waiting in the player of the big screen. Athena walked over and sat by him, hugging onto his arm and leaning into him.
“So… what’s this South Park about again, daddy?” she asked sweetly.
“Four bad mouthed brats and a whole town of crazies in South Park, Colorado,” he said, smiling ever so faintly to her.
“Schway!” she said with a little giggle. “Is Jeniva going to watch with us?”
“Jeniva is out with that Bart guy again,” he said, twitching faintly.
“Bret, daddy.”
“Bret. I don’t LIKE Bret.”
“Bret’s a jerk, I know… But Jeniva likes him.”
“Speaking of boys you two like,” Bruce said, looking at her. “Whatever happened to your little crush from a while back? That Austin guy?”
Athena looked away at the screen from him and hugged him a little closer to her.
“I’ve decided it best to put all my efforts into school, daddy. Boys aren’t worth all that trouble.” She picked up his hand and gave it a kiss and smiled to him. “Except for YOU, of course, daddy.” Once more, she hugged him, this time around the waist and leaned on him again. Her eyes looked in the direction of the TV but hollowed out as she began to think. Quietly, she added simply, “Guys just aren’t as good as you and Dick and Tim, daddy… can… we watch that movie now?”
